- Tom is sad for mayella because she has no friends and her dad is an abusive drunk

- Tom used to fix a lot of things for mayella
- Tom says on his way home he saw mayella on the porch and she asked him to help her with something inside
- Door she asked him to fix was fine

- Pulls him down and kisses him

- Knocks chair over and tries to get away
- "are you saying that mayella is lying?" no she is mistaken in her mind

- There isn't a single man here that hasn't ever looked upon a white woman with desire
