Chapter 14
The trial is about a rape case. She asked Cal. Cal. is not her mother. It is a tough thing to talk about. Asked her father, he says " Carnal knowledge by force without consent." Yes he answers but doesn't want to explain. Thank goodness she doesn't understand, but her dad did give her an answer. Scout and Jem get into a fight. She punches Jem in the mouth. He hits her. Scout is very happy they're fighting, it proves she is tough enough. If Jem wouldn't bother to fight, then they aren't equal. He did bother to fight so she feels equal. Jem was doing his own things and Scout was nervous that they were growing apart, now she knows they're not.
The runaway = Dill. He lies down next to Scout, innocently. He says, " Scout, let us get us a baby." He told her they can order babies from a foggy island. Scout claims they come down the chimney.
Chapter 13
Cal. is not in favor of Alexandra. Alex. says to fire Calpurnia. Alex. is just as racist as upper class southern. She is afraid that things will get told about the lovely white families rather than the black families across town.
HYPOCRISY IS WHEN YOU TEND TO BETTER THAN OTHER PEOPLE, LYING AND STEALING FOR EXAMPLE.
